Etymology of Old Irish[edit]

Can anyway give some sources on the etymology? Matasović, Ranko (2009) “brigo”, in Etymological Dictionary of Proto-Celtic (Leiden Indo-European Etymological Dictionary Series; 9), Leiden: Brill, →ISBN, pages 77–78 gives Proto-Celtic brigo/ā for ‘might, power’, and claims it’s related to PC. *brig-. The mentioned Welsh bri cites Albanian Etymological Dictionary, entry for bri, but it has nothing to do with Celtic *brigos and has completely different meaning (deals with horns, deer, etc.). EDIT: I misread the bri entry – it has references for Albanian at the bottom of the page, under Welsh section. Welsh entry doesn’t cite anything either for the etymology. // Silmeth @talk 20:24, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
