Possible synonyms

Chambers 1908 has sing another song and sing another tune, defined as "to change one's tone or attitude, especially to a humbler manner". BTW I note that we don't say anything about the "humbler manner" in this entry, even though I think it is true ("he'll soon change his tune and come back begging for more money!" etc.).
