My hunch is that "citrus" was probably originally only a noun, and that it has probably (largely) displaced the "true" adjective "citrous" in adjectival or attributive contexts due to its being pronounced the same and "sounding like an adjective". However, I don't know what more we could ask for to demonstrate adjectival use of "citrus" than what DCD has now cited. Mihia (talk) 22:30, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

English pronunciation

I'm skeptical of the English pronunciation /ˈsɪtɹəs/. I'm a native Canadian English speaker and I say /ˈsɪtʃɹɪs/. I have sometimes found that I say /ɪ/ in a final, unstressed syllable when Wiktionary only has /ə/, so I would not be surprised if /ˈsɪtʃɹəs/ is more common, but /ˈsɪtɹəs/ sounds completely foreign to me. - excarnateSojourner (talk | contrib) 20:34, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
