When did "to configurate" replace "to configure" as the verb form of "configuration?" Why is there no mention here of "configure" and which of the two identical twins is used by whom / where / in what situations? Is this like using "to orientate" instead of "to orient," e.g. a UK overworked affectation ( :) ) not used here in the rebellious colonies?

According to WordReference dot com: ""Configurate" is an erroneous back-formation from "configuration"; it is not a real word. That said, "orientate," a similarly erroneous back-formation from "orientation," is on its way toward becoming established as a real word, alongside "orient." "Configurate" has not reached the same point.

I respectfully suggest that this article needs some notation to indicate that "configurate" is an erroneous back-formation of "configuration." Emphasis on "ERRONEOUS."

I don't think you read our entry properly. It's an old verb, marked obsolete, no longer in use, but current a long time ago. This has nothing to do with any modern-day error for e.g. computer software "configuration". Equinox 10:03, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Also, regarding "overworked affectation" (smiley or no smiley), please read up on descriptive versus prescriptive language before you... well... prescribe. Equinox 10:04, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
