In conventional usage, "cryonicist" is not someone who works in the field of cryonics, but rather someone who desires cryonics personally. For example, someone with cryonics arrangements is called a cryonicist regardless of employment, whereas a technician who performs cryonics procedures while having no personal interest in being cryopreserved would not be called a cryonicist.
