My Thai wife became a domiciliary of Louisiana simply by marrying me when I was a citizen of that state, though we were then resident in Thailand, which has a very similar legal code. This gave her and her subsequently born children legal rights that she would not have had, had I then been a citizen of any of the other 49. It also affected both my state and federal tax status, saving me quite a bit of money--Pawyilee (talk) 07:07, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
