Multiple etymologies?[edit]

I just went through the Category of derived words and categorized them (see derived words section and associated update to senses). The sense of fore- in foreclose and forelay seems unrelated to the other ones and I'm doubting it shares the same etymology. The page for forelay doesn't provide an etymology, but foreclose does and notes it as coming from "prefix used to express error, exclusion, or inadequacy” and coming from Old French, which none of the other derived terms have.
