Etymology of Haematology[edit]

I think it's worth noting that the UK word is actually Haemology not Haematology, and that Haematology arose from the amalgamation of the original British coined word "Haemology" and the later American variant "Hematology".

What's your source for this? I just picked up my Oxford English Dictionary and it's not in there. The prefix is haemato-, which I believe comes from αἵμᾰτος (haímatos), the genitive of αἷμα (haîma).— This unsigned comment was added by Mglovesfun (talkcontribs).
I don't think so. ‘Haematology’ has been used by Brits as far back as Robert Hooper. Ƿidsiþ 15:19, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
