Adjective: "Muted, as if emitted by a huddled embryo." One citation is given: it's not clear that it has anything to do with embryos whatsoever! Equinox 17:43, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Cited and removed the reference to embryos. That reference was included by the user who added the sense [1]; I suspect it was meant as a reference to our verb sense 2, "to assume a position similar to that of an embryo in the womb" - a weirdly specific gloss that dates back to the entry's creation in 2005.
