Etymology: I just encountered this word in this NY Times article, and I'm quite sure that it is originating from German Word Unding (German Wiktionary) (to be literally translated as "non-thing", meaning something so unbelievable that it could be no real thing").--Mideal 13:20, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
