Why is a compliment "invisible to others"? If someone speaks or writes a compliment to me, others can witness it. Equinox 07:31, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't think a compliment is a good example here. Praise seems like an extrinsic reward, e.g. [1] "Extrinsic rewards are postcedents like praise [...]", [2] "Hankering after extrinsic rewards (compliments, [...])".
I would propose a less confusing example like "the satisfaction of completing a task successfully", or "the joy of fulfilling one's curiosity", etc. 70.175.192.217 07:45, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
