I removed the tag "unidiomatically" from this item, as "inverted caret" is the most idiomatic way of referring to a, well, inverted caret. The fact of the matter is that inverted carets are rarely used, not that "inverted caret" is an unidiomatic way of referring to them.

Symbol[edit]
