Old East Norse form

@Mårtensås Do you know if there are any reconstructions (or possibly even attestations) of an Old East Norse iū form? What are the criteria for calling a form Old East Norse anyway? I considered listing iūl as East Norse simply because of what's already listed as Old Swedish and Old Danish. As far as I know, distinct Old Icelandic or Old Norwegian forms are also Old West Norse. Old East Norse is basically just runic Old Swedish/Danish normalized into the Latin alphabet. iūl would work. This touches on a deeper problem though, that of listing Old Norse (= Old Icelandic) as the ancestor language of North Germanic. I fully agree. One thing is when the Eastern and Western forms are more or less the same, but it is not remotely correct in instances like this. OS and OD iūl should at the very least be directly under Proto-Germanic and not under jól. Eilífr / ᛅᛁᛚᛁᚠᚱ 16:14, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
