Hello, in french[edit]
If you have eventually clambered onto a jerkwater bound for the outback, you may be :
- if you are in top-hat, frock-coat & strap-trousers , or in farthingale & bonnet : « en route pour le Diable-Vauvert » ( « Devilgreendale »). Quite out of use nowadays.
- if you hope to reach a bucolic country village : « dans le tortillard pour « Trifouillis-les-Oies ». ("in the wriggler for Grubbingooseford") . Seldom heard nowadays though.
- if you are between 2 goats on the roof of a very painted coach in a very sunny and southern landscape : « dans la patache" (box-cart) "pour « Foum-Tataouine » ». (this proceeding from the old foreign-legion slang, but still much in use).
- if you are trying to reach a remote suburb where you have been told the dryed hemp flower is better & cheaper than downtown : « dans le sub pour « Péta-où-schnoke " (« Fartwherenuts »). reference : beginning of the french version of « French Connection » movie, when 2 DEA enforcers bully some dealer... . And watch your leather bomber & santiags (cow-boy boots) anyway.
