Wrong spelling

[edit]

The adaptation of the english word "leader" in asturian language is "líder" (plural: "líderes") [1]; sometimes, it is writen as *llíder, with a initial double «l», but this form is a "hyperasturianism": in asturian, like in catalan, the initial l- has evolved to ll- from latin, and pronounced [ ʎ ]: "luna" > "lluna" ['ʎuna] (moon); "lingua" > "llingua" ['ʎiŋɣwa] (catalan "llengua"; tongue, language); "lana" > "llana" ['ʎana] (whool); etc... But in modern words, specially foreign words (like english "leader"), the initial l- is not changed in ll-. So, this word is, correctly, "líder" ['liðeɾ], but not *llíder--Etienfr (talk) 21:59, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Unfortunately, many times writers don't care for correct and rightful Asturian ortography. No problem, we can find the correct (standard) spellings in the Academia de la Llingua Asturiana normative dictionary [3].--Etienfr (talk) 20:05, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
