The English word FINISH in the English wiktionary, which in one sense has the meaning of a protective or decorative coating, has been given the translation of maali but I think this is the wrong translation.

The english word FINISH is much more general.. it can mean a varnish, a paint, a wax surface, or even a physical rather than chemical treatment such as polishing with a paste that smooths the surface before where the paste is completely removed after the treatment leaving a nice shiny surface, or decorative finish. The verb is "to finish" and the noun is "finish".

Is there a word in the Finnish language that encapsulates this idea? If so, could you be kind enough to update the english Wiktionary entry for "Finish"?
