Talk:miching

This page and those for all the alternative forms of the word list it as a US dialect word. But Robert Herrick, who lived in the South of England during the first half of the seventeenth century has a poem "His Grange" with the lines:

"A cat / I keep, that plays about my house, / Grown fat / With eating many a MICHING mouse".

Might the word exist outside of US dialect, then?
