First attested[edit]

I have removed the claim that the word was first attested around 1780. This seems to be a few decades too late. Samuel Johnson uses the word in his dictionary in 1755 in a non-mentiony way. I also found this 1761 usage, albeit in italics. SpinningSpark 16:53, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
