Regarding the etymology of the Finnish word orja in Wiktionary is 100% WRONG and disparaging to Iranic peoples.[edit]

The etymology of the word Orja in Finnish is related to the word for slave in Modern Persian Barde from Middle Persian Wardag from Old Persian Warjama from Proto-Indo-Iranian Warjam ultimately from Proto-Indo-European Wérǵom (work).

When you look at the Old Persian word Warjama, you can see the semantic shifts to the various words for slave in Uralic languages like Finnish, Estonian etc:

Orja, Orjama, Ori, Ver, Var

The Wikipedia page is coming up with a baseless theory regarding it being from the word Aryan. There is zero evidence of this and is very offensive. Parszaban (talk) 10:10, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

You're still promoting your own unsourced etymology without knowing anything about the languages involved in contravention of sources. We get it, you don't like the etymology. But sources widely agree on it. — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 11:08, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
