Some dictionaries give pisophalt as an obsolete form; it's hard to find actual usage. Equinox 19:41, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

maltha[edit]

following the trail to French Wiktionary and back again, i wonder if this curious word is an old-fashioned term for what we now call maltha. Im not familiar with word either, but I have a hard time believing that pissasphalt does not have at least one modern synonym, since the usual cautions about mineral terms ... e.g. making sure it actually exists .... don't seem to apply here. Also, Greek wiktionary has a page for el:πισσάσφαλτος, but I held off from linking to it because there's a small chance that, despite being obviously cognate, it has a slightly different sense. Happens sometimes with Greek words. I suspect it's the same thing though. Soap 10:56, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
