Cypraea madagascariensis is one of the many taxonomic synonyms of Nucleolaria nucleus. When we get an entry for

- If you think we should help readers of Jules Verne understand Cyprœa Madagascariensis, then why not have a Translingual (taxonomic) entry for it? Or a redirect to a page for Nucleolaria nucleus that has its many synonyms. Depending on their knowledge of and persistence in using the features of the failed-search page would exclude a large portion of them, I think. DCDuring (talk) 00:01, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Does the Jules Verne passage not use "porcelaine de Madagascar"?
- Also why is the entry capitalized? The web uses in French running text are of "porcelaine de Madagascar" (and even "porcelaine de madagascar"). DCDuring (talk) 01:33, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Capitalization. This is a 19th century thing. In 19th century, naturalist books, Porcelaine is capitalized. I think the 1990 Orthographic reforms may have affected this.
- I didn't want to create an entry for Cyprœa Madagascariensis because it doesn't appear to be a proper spelling and I don't think we should flood Wiktionary with erroneous spellings. Vernes doesn't ever say porcelaine de Madagascar. This is the in the part when naturalists are first introduced to the wondrous collection of Capitaine Nemo and Counseil begins to classify them. There's no great way to add it, but I wanted users to have some way of finding it. I don't think that the failed-search page would never lead to Nucleolaria nucleus from Cyprœa Madagascariensis which is why I added the gloss. Here's the exact quote.
