Legal sense[edit]

User:Theknightwho Look at the legal sense here: "The document in which the word presents appears. Know all men by these presents..." This strikes me as probably misleading, and possibly totally wrong. Chambers 1908 has "presents, pl. the writing of a letter, or a deed of any kind as actually shown at any time: any deed or writing". Can you make it lovely and right?
