Could the medical sense be a typo/scanno for proctologist? Equinox ◑ 12:58, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

I considered that as a possibility - but there are quite a few usages, and they are definitely not scannos. I even found one quote that said someone was a protologist who was also trained as a proctologist, which would seem to indicate that they are two different things. What the distinction is, I am unsure about. From what I was reading, I suspect that proctologist is a broader specialty, but I could be wrong there. Kiwima (talk) 18:45, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
