Prototrophs still need a carbon source in addition to inorganic material.
- They also need nitrogen, water, and other items. Note that not all bacterial phototrophs make use of the Calvin cycle or the two photosystems found in plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. --EncycloPetey 02:28, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
