Criticism has been levelled at (iii) rarely or ever (by confusion of ‘rarely if ever’ and ‘rarely or never’,), though illustrated by examples in the OED from 1692 onwards; and (iv) rarely ever , though illustrated by OED examples from 1679 onwards, and supported by a British and an American example in MWCDEU ( 2002) --Backinstadiums (talk) 18:52, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
