Usage as a verb[edit]
I don't know whether this is particularly common- I may have made it up myself then attributed it to external sources, or it may even be one of those things many people invent independently, but I sometimes use "schwa" as a verb, to mean "to simplify pronunciation by substituting a schwa for some other vowel". In fact, I arrived here expecting it to be common usage while looking for the past tense form.

- I found exactly one relevant hit for "schwaing" in a Google Books search: "the speaker of English “knows” that schwaing vowels is possible in unstressed syllables but impossible in stressed syllables" (Schwieter, Innovative Research and Practices in Second Language Acquisition...); so I'd call it a nonce word. I was trying to fix italian and added Sicilian but I can't[edit]
I was trying to fix the italin gender of Schwa that it's actually male "lo Schwa" or "lo scevà" and then I added the Sicilian equivalent.
