No, this is correct. In Italian, "xxxcento" ("xxx hundred") means the years 1000 + xxxcento to 1000 + xxxcento + 999. So "il settecento" means the years 1700 to 1799. It doesn't quite tally with the eighteenth century (which was from 1701 to 1800) but this is the appropriate translation in any case. -- Paul G 16:22, 26 Mar 2004 (UTC)
