How is the example given of the second sense (I sketched out the trees and the lake before adding texture and colour to the scene) not idiomatic (a phrasal verb), and hence deserving of its own definition, like check out or flesh out? There's nothing inherent in the word out as an adverb that would help a reader who doesn't already know what sketch out means figure it out. 46.6.190.61 03:56, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think it may be sense 6 "to the end, completely". But I still agree that a proper definition should be added. We also have one for "hear out", which is given as the example for said sense at "out". 90.186.170.69 12:46, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
