what is the origin of this word?? does it come from the biblical 'sodom'??

I believe it does. I could be mistaken, but I think rampant sodomy was one of the reasons God destroyed Sodom. -- Pinkfud 20:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
According to Torah, the sins of Sodom were many and did include sexual deviations. However, Jewish tradition stresses pride, haughtiness, and failing to help the needy as the main sins. See Genesis 19, Leviticus 18. -- Pinkfud 21:01, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
