Def is wrong. The tilt is not in the direction of the longer axis. That's some 13 days off. Aliter 21:00, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
This is nonsense: "point where the earth stands at the extreme of its ellipsis around the sun". Ellipsis is a linguistic term denoting an omission of text and having nothing to do with the Earth's elliptical orbit. A solstice occurs when the Earth's axis is closest to being parallel to a line between the Sun and the Earth.
