This is nonsense: "point where the earth stands at the extreme of its ellipsis around the sun". Ellipsis is a linguistic term denoting an omission of text and having nothing to do with the Earth's elliptical orbit. A solstice occurs when the Earth's axis is closest to being parallel to a line between the Sun and the Earth.
