Not only Serbo-Croatian. Me, mom, grandfather, and all the way many generations - our surname was STARINSKI, but it came from Germany via Poland into Russia, and ethnically we were known as Jews (Ashkenazi flavor i.e. highly-integrated/mixed with North/West & then East Europeans). No Serbs/Croatians/pure Polish or pure Russians in my bloodline, though I suspect after centuries mixing was inevitable... (men like women of all sorts!). My last 4 generations lived in Russia, even myself (in USA since 1993), my father's first name & a couple relatives are partially GERMAN & strongly familiar with Polish culture (lived on border) dueto World. War II. So this surname spread all over Europe, but Serbo-Croatian definitely wasn't the initial/root - it was Germany/Poland border, then Russia. Which are related, though
