Definition 1[edit]

I claim that this is ubiquitous in the US and almost unheard of elsewhere - but my claim is based on internet search results that only give US sporting references (plus definitions 2 and 3 that I've placed here), I can't find anyone who actually states that this is a US-English term. Anyone else out there want to look? — This comment was unsigned.
