There is a type of stretcher that I think some of the American Indian nations used (could be a cliche from the movies) two poles and a hide stretched between, dragged behind a horse - Can anyone remind me of the name for it? It is driving me crazy..

Look for colocations with nautical terms like stringer. I think the definition is too specific because the crosspieces I found mentioned are at the feet rather than up higher where they would provide strength against compression. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 20:57, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
