Antonyms
[edit]Are there any antonyms? User:68.52.211.222 08:52, 28 January 2006
- There are a lot when it comes to terms which are created from sub. Like 'add' would be to 'subtract', you may be looking for sub-, we need to remember to include the dash when we are talking about the prefix. It looks like your question is answered, sub-#Antonyms lists super- as one. Ty 12:00, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Subedit?

Specific Use in Mathematics
[edit]Mathematicians usually read xn as "x n", "x subscript n", or "x sub n" (in fact, I've never personally heard the longer form "x subscript n" used and consider "x n" to be too confusable but I've read that some do read it in these ways). This, of course, is purely a spoken convention but I think it's appropriate to add here. I believe the Handbook for Spoken Mathematics might be a good reference for this but I'm not exactly sure. It's very common, however, so I expect some of you reading this post may already be aware of this fact and can attest to it yourselves. 73.194.102.53 14:25, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
