Is the Dutch wel cognate to the Old English wel, Old High German wola, German wohl, Old Norse vel, which are from the common Germanic *wel-? If so, an etymology section can be added to the Dutch entry. Mallerd 19:34, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dutch wel and English 'like'[edit]

In Dutch, you can say 'ze kijkt wel vier uur per dag tv', which I think in English can be translated as 'she watches television like four hours per day'. There are some small nuances though, can someone with better knowledge of English translate it better? I think that the Dutch sense is not listed right now, but I believe it is very common. 82.217.116.224 11:51, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
