Impolite[edit]

Wouldn't it be better to ask "Do you have the time, please?", or "Excuse me, could you tell me the time please?" Pistachio 15:49, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's neutral rather than impolite; your forms are explicitly polite, and would work better if asking a stranger. Equinox 17:25, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

what time[edit]

According to Chambers 1908, "what time" can mean "at the very time when". This must be an obsolete construct I haven't encountered. Equinox 17:25, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

What time do you make it? (or What do you make the time?)[edit]

What time do you make it? (or What do you make the time?) are BrE variants. --Backinstadiums (talk) 12:52, 21 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
