Template:R:AnimalBase/documentation

This template is designed to provide a link to the AnimalBase database normally to be used under the heading External links for a species or genus name or a corresponding vernacular name. This database provides a great deal of information, mostly encyclopedic about animal taxa. It also provides taxonomic synonyms and can be a source for common names.

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= – mandatory: should be the taxonomy level, such as "taxonomygenus" or "taxonomyspecies".
• |2= – mandatory: should be the AnimalBase code for the page.
• |3= – optional: the taxonomic name, if different from the pagename.
• |noi= – optional: by default the linked term will be italicized. To disable italicization, set |noi=1.
