R:COLEpithet at the Catalogue of Life

This produces a link to the Catalogue of Life ("COL") for a search for the term which is parameter 1 or the pagename if parameter 1 is not provided.

This particular COL search parameters set by the template are "fuzzy", "include extinct" and "prefix". This is intended to facilitate search for all declined forms of a specific epithet.

For this purpose the stem of specific epithets declined like 1st and 2nd declension and some third declension Latin adjectives should be used (bon for bonus, brev for brevis). Searches for 3rd declension adjectives that don't have a stem form that applies to all and only forms of the adjective (eg, acer may need to be undertaken manually at the COL site.

Note that some forms that are not of the adjective may be yielded, eg, genitives. Short stems may generate many false positives.
