nl-adv

This template is used to form the headword line for Dutch adverbs. It uses Module:nl-headword as a back-end.

Note that adverb entries should not be created if they are simply adverbial uses of adjectives. Such adverbs are combined into the adjective entry on the same page, and do not get an entry of their own. See WT:ANL#Adjectives and adverbs for more information.

Usage

The parameter head= overrides the headword to display, and defaults to the page name. This allows you to add wikilinks to adverbs that are made up of multiple words.

This template assumes that the adverb has no comparative or superlative forms, and does not display them by default. Almost all comparable adverbs are adverbial uses of adjectives, and therefore do not get an entry. Therefore, almost all adverbs can simply use this template with no parameters at all:

On the page vanavond:

If the adverb has a different meaning from the adjective, it gets an entry. But even then it is usually not comparable, because the senses that are specific to the adverb do not allow for comparison. For example, when considered as an adjective, verschrikkelijk (terrible) has the comparative verschrikkelijker and superlative verschrikkelijkst. But when considered as an adverb, verschrikkelijk (terribly, extremely) is not comparable, since one cannot generally say Het is verschrikkelijker koud buiten (It is more terribly cold outside). Thus:

On the page verschrikkelijk:

Only a few adverbs really do have comparatives and superlatives of their own. These are specified with the first and second parameters, like in the {{nl-adj}} template. As a convenience, if the comparative is specified, the superlative is assumed to end in -st.
