On the page for "third", you asked what the ridings of Yorkshire are. The region of northern England called Yorkshire was divided into three counties called North Riding, West Riding and East Riding. The word "Riding", used in this sense, comes from an Middle English word meaning "third" (as each Riding is about one third of the whole region). I seemed to remember that "third" is another term for "Riding", but I can't find this in the dictionaries I have consulted (OED, Chambers, dictionary.com) so I think I might be mistaken.
