"Standard" and "non-standard" Vietnamese orthography

The so-called "standard" orthography as noted here is the one used in textbooks published by Nhà Xuất bản Giáo dục Việt Nam (Publishing House of Education of Vietnam), while the "non-standard" is used elsewhere and much more common. I personally prefer the "standard" one because it's much simpler and more solid (although there are baffling cases such as Lý used in the history books and Lí used in the literature books).

Uses of the letters i and y to represent the phoneme /i/
