[edit] About me

There's not much to say really - I just like languages (pretty much all of them, too). I'm a native German speaker who's also fluent in English; I also learned Latin, French and Russian in school, but I forgot those again pretty much completely. :)

One language I'm particularly interested in is Icelandic; I don't speak it yet, but I've got a few books on it and am taking a course right now. The fact that I don't actually speak any Icelandic yet hasn't kept me from contributing a number of Icelandic words/phrases, though, and I intend to contribute more in the future, too - Icelandic is a beautiful language and deserves more widespread attention.

For an introduction to Icelandic, look at Category:Icelandic language and particularly Category:Icelandic phrasebook; there's also a Swadesh list for Icelandic. I hope noone'll mind that I filed Icelandic under "lesser-used European languages" - with only about 300,000 native speakers, that seemed reasonable, and the page already existed, too.

If you speak Icelandic and would like to help me learn it, by all means, contact me! :) You can leave me a message on my talk page, for example, or meet me in the Icelandic forum on phrasebase.com (or view my profile there).

I also received two "snowflakes of thanks" from User:Wonderfool, but the images were deleted later on again. Oh well.
