PIE[edit]

Why are you replacing Latin lemma forms with the present active infinitives? --EncycloPetey 20:04, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I replaced a number of either incorrect cognates or highly derived forms, and since I can neither conjugate Latin nor do I have access to cognate lists that do not use infinitives, present active or otherwise, there isn't much that I can do.
For example, you replaced meditor with meditari, which is the present infinitive of the same verb. If you don't know Latin conjugation, you can look them up online in Lewis & Short: [1] --EncycloPetey 20:18, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you very much for your edits in PIE roots appendix, for adding new etymons and removing false cognates. That list was originally compiled by some diligent folks on WP, largely based on Pokorny's book which is a bit oudated [and still there is no decent replacement] and some of the roots are listed there are not considered "reliable" nowadays. So at any case, thanks ;) --Ivan Štambuk 15:57, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
