Hi Cek. Thanks for the Polish and Tibetan contributions.

Do you know if the latin transliterations of the Tibetan represents the spelling or the sound of the words? I know that Tibetan spelling and pronunciation have drifted further apart even than English so maybe we should think about how to handle this on Wiktionary. — Hippietrail 06:13, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Hi. The commonly used transliteration of Tibetan is wikipedia:Wylie transliteration and it does represent the spelling of words but it does not represent the pronunciation. Cek 06:19, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for that link. Is there no standard(ish) system besides IPA to show pronunciation? If there were we could try to include both in the English entries, but IPA we reserve for entries in the native language itself. — Hippietrail 07:10, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I don't know of any easier way and I don't really know IPA enough... In some rare cases the word can be pronounced like some word in english, but for many sounds I can't find any equivalent.

Cool. We'll stick with the way you're doing it now then.

There is also one more doubt I have: When I came to wictionary all tibetan words (there were about 5 of them at all) were written without a dot on the end. So I foolow this rule, but the correct way to write tibetan words is with a dot after each syllable including the last one. I think it should be corrected in the whole wictionary, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to change someone other's work, even if it's wrong. Cek 08:09, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

There may be more than 5 entries. I've added a tiny handful myself and try to put the tsheg in each place it is in the source. I think some other people have added them as well.
