The word meaningism was first used in my Ph.D. thesis, and accepted by two professors, one from the University of Aberdeen, and the other (external examiner) from Portsmouth University. Both professors, specialise in Economics, but both have published widely, and edited various journals. The published thesis is called 'Modelling Supply Response in the UK Salmon Farming Industry', and is held in stock at the Queen Mother Library. Contextually, it refers to the philosophical basis of applied research, rather than to art per se. Since then (it was published in 2000), the word has been adopted in art circles in Aberdeen, and the north east of Scotland, with the meaning of the word being that in the original submittance.
