Translations

It hekps if you link your additions. So instead of:

• Hebrew: שמיכה (smikha) f

please add:

• Hebrew: שמיכה (smikha) f

So that users may click on the word. This should happen even if the Hebrew entry doesn't yet exist.--EncycloPetey 20:04, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Use templates for gender

Please use {{m}}, {{n}} and {{f}} for genders, not ''m'' etc. Did you read WT:ELE? H. (talk) 21:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Aramaic/Hebrew

I recently changed your edits to טבח in order to distinguish between Aramaic and Hebrew. Just try to be careful about what heading you edit under. The two languages are similar, but not the same. :) --334a 04:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Wow! Thanks for adding all those Hebrew translations! Just a minor point:

We don't add translations with definitions numbers (anymore) (as you did, e.g., here). The reason seems to be that the order of definitions can change easily -- or some can be combined or split -- and no one wants to keep track of the translation tables. Instead, if a translation only applies to one of the senses, then it should be added to a translation table exclusive to that sense; this is done as follows (the example is for desparate):

{{trans-top|filled with despair}}
 *Hebrew: [[מיואש]] (m'yuash) {{m}}

---or---

*Hebrew: {{t|he|מיואש|m|tr=m'yuash|sc=Hebr}}
 {{trans-mid}}
 {{trans-bottom}}

Often these tables will already be in place (as you've no doubt noticed). If you can't be bothered to type all that in, then adding a translation with a number is certainly better than adding no translation at all, but be aware that some future editor is likely going to put your translation in a "translations to be checked" table, asking someone to verify that the translation is correct, and which sense it applies to.

Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Liso. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Liso~enwiktionary that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
