Welcome![edit]

Welcome to Wiktionary, LunaEatsTuna!

I made two minor changes to tydsone: 1) I normalized the entry (add blank line between sections; add white space in definition), and 2) I used a better template for the etymology.

It's nice to see more native Afrikaans speakers and I hope you will stay and contribute more. Welcome! MartinMichlmayr (talk) 07:07, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you :) And your edits are very helpful! I will keep an eye out on normalisations for any future entries I add to Wiktionary. I hope to contribute a lot more for the foreseeable future and would love to expand Wiktionary's coverage of Afrikaans-language entries. LunaEatsTuna (talk) 17:46, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ABDL category and ageplay related terms[edit]

Hello, I've noticed that you've added Category:en:ABDL to a few entries recently, either directly or through a definition label. Some additions like crinklebutt and pamper packer seem appropriate since they directly relate to diapers, but others like babyfur or big less so since there isn't a direct connection to diapers in the terms' meanings, only to ageplay more generally. I am wondering if there is are additional reasons that I may be missing for the later sets of terms to be in the ABDL category. Thanks and take care. —The Editor's Apprentice (talk) 00:46, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@The Editor's Apprentice I believe the term also refers to age regression/age-play and not exclusively to diapers per se. Like in the entry for adult baby (the AB initialism) it says "role-playing a regression to an infant-like state" which could thus include diapers but is not necessarily exclusive to it. There is a chance I am mistaken; the term does not seem as refined as "BDSM" (which I based this label on), but every self-hosted dictionary webpage of ABDL jargon I could find included such age play terms and inferred that there were individuals identifying with (as?) ABDL who exclusively liked diapers or only liked age regression, so the age-play terms thus seemed appropriate for this label to me. LunaEatsTuna (talk) 01:08, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you for the quick reply and clarification, the comparison with BDSM is particularly helpful. Given what you've said, I would now say that it makes sense to categorize all of the terms I mentioned in my initial comment as part of Category:en:ABDL. On a separate note, it seems that there is error with the category based on the message that currently appears at the top which you may be interested in fixing. Thanks again and take care. —The Editor's Apprentice (talk) 05:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work[edit]

I appreciate your work adding Internet slang, emoji, and all the other random stuff. almond mom is a very well-crafted entry, with plenty of quotes and references, and YAMO is another entry that's impressively high-effort (however, watch out that the 2008 quote is Google Groups, not Usenet). I hope you keep up the good work! Ioaxxere (talk) 00:21, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks – I really appreciate your kind words!! I am super happy with my large variety of terms that greatly contrast each other (I find it funny) and as a native Wikipedian, I love either referencing or adding quotations to every entry I create. I am really satisfied with YAMO; I have authored a dictionary on micronational jargon, and during the process I have collected citations for all 400+ entries, including from super obscure websites now available only on the Internet Archive. Hopefully I can add some more (provided they meet the Wikt criteria) in the future. ^^ I have corrected the now erstwhile Usenet citation (incidentally my 1000th edit). I love your contributions to Wiktionary as well! I see you in recent changes and my watchlist all the time (not ominous at all). Keep it up too!! Happy editing, LunaEatsTuna (talk) 01:40, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As the resident tuna eater, I would appreciate your opinion on tuna salad. Would the definition match your idea of a tuna salad? Denazz (talk) 15:55, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, yes that sounds about right! This is the most common/barebones way to make it, after which other ingredients like spices or garnish can be added. This is also how its Wikipedia entry defines the term. I have not seen tuna salad served without mayonnaise, probably because it would be fairly flavourless to most people, like pasta without any added ingredients which is essentially just dough. But there is a second way that a lot of people also make tuna salad, which is by using a tuna loin instead and placing it on top of a traditional salad, with the leaves, feta cheese, avocado and whatever people put on their salad these days. So, if this entry is allowed to remain then perhaps that can be added as a second sense, provided we find sources for it. LunaEatsTuna (talk) 16:07, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I hope it was delicious; it certainly sounds delectable, even without mayonnaise! Garbanzos and peppers sound like a fantastic combination to go with the tuna. LunaEatsTuna (talk) 23:32, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy! Sorry, do you know where this word came from? Is it from rooi or from rooie or is it not related to none of them? Tollef Salemann (talk) 21:06, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tollef Salemann I think rooi + -tjie makes sense. Looking at images of the butterfly on Google it seems to be red. And, as a harmless cute insect (people love butterflies), the diminutive suffix makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the question, LunaEatsTuna (talk) 22:31, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism?[edit]

Thank you for working to improve Wiktionary (as well as Wikipedia, you said).

Is this your idea of a joke, or did someone vandalize your user page? possibly from a device where you forgot to log out, since it was the last edit made by your account that day, minutes after the second last edit? Quite a coincidence if someone actually stole or guessed your password or hacked your account and logged in impersonating you that close to when you were actually editing... unless someone was in the room (computer lab? roommate? a drone with a camera?) and got your password by literally watching you type it.

i'm hoping you put that as a joke, but if someone is messing with you, you might think about taking some precautions. Change your password, for starters.

Wishing you safe, happy, productive editing.

Hi, many thanks for your concern! I did put that there as an obscure joke, but I really appreciate you looking out for me. Wishing you a wonderful day, LunaEatsTuna (talk) 21:40, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
