added audio pronunciation

[edit]

Hey Sgconlaw, I uploaded an audio recording of this word. You can add it to the template with |audio=en-us-clean-limbed.ogg.

In general, though, is there a procedure for the staging that I could follow? I suppose I could go through Wiktionary:Word of the day/Nominations for any that don't yet have audio, but I'm wondering if there is a better way... = paul2520 💬 19:35, 22 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Paul2520: Thanks! One way is to have a look at "Category:Word of the day archive"; there is a box which lists the latest entries that have been scheduled to appear as Word of the Day. Oh, by the way, two suggestions:
  • Name pronunciation files exactly as the entry they are to appear in. Thus, if the entry is forlorn hope, the pronunciation file should be "En-us-forlorn hope.oga" and not "En-us-forlorn-hope.oga" (with a hyphen). This way, the {{WOTD}} template picks up the pronunciation file automatically and it isn't necessary to manually specify the filename.
  • On the entry page, place the pronunciation file directly under the IPA transcription that it corresponds to. Thus, if adding a file with American pronunciation, place it directly under the GA (General American) transcription.

@Sgconlaw: Thanks! What's the difference between .ogg and .oga? Quick searches haven't quite explained it to me. = paul2520 💬 21:14, 22 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
