Etymology[edit]
From àjàò (“anomalure, flying squirrel”) + dídú (“black, to be black”), literally “The black flying squirrel”, compare with àjàò àjọ̀sọ́n (“the orange flying squirrel”)

- (Àkúrẹ́) a type of rodent known as the anomalure in the genus Anomalurus, (specifically) the Lord Derby's scaly-tailed squirrel, it resembles but is not closely related to the main family of flying squirrels
