Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Spanish alcoba, from Arabic القُبَّة (al-qubba, “dome, cupola”), from Aramaic קוּבְּתָא / ܩܘܼܒ݁ܬ݂ܵܐ (qubbəṯā). The meaning changed after a semantic loan from English alcove.
